# Build an agent

## First call

This public MCP search needs no key. It returns a live catalog row with an artifact ID and file details.

```sh
curl -fsS 'https://huggingbay.xyz/api/mcp' -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_artifacts","arguments":{"q":"Qwen2.5 0.5B GGUF","limit":5}}}'
```

Use MCP Streamable HTTP at `https://huggingbay.xyz/api/mcp`. Public catalog reads need no API key.

1. Connect the endpoint in your MCP client.
2. Call `tools/list` to read the current tool names and schemas.
3. Call `search_artifacts` with a user query, then inspect a returned artifact and its download plan before using a file.

The live search confirms catalog metadata only. It does not prove that a file fits this computer or that it runs. See [Agent Access](https://huggingbay.xyz/agents), [MCP reference](https://huggingbay.xyz/developers/mcp), and [the first local model guide](https://huggingbay.xyz/docs/first-model).
